There's a car you still see when you close your eyes. A porch where the light hit just right. A road, a coastline, a morning on a trip you never want to forget. Some places and things become part of who we are, and a photo on a phone doesn't do them justice.
That's what a commission is for. You bring me the thing that matters to you, maybe a classic car or truck, a home or piece of land, or a place you've been, and together we turn it into a painting that stays in your family long after both of us are gone.
It exists only once. I never reproduce a commissioned painting. No prints, no giclées, nothing. My other originals sometimes become prints later, but a commission never does. What you receive exists nowhere else, on any wall, ever. I take only a few each year, which means only a limited number in my lifetime.
We shape it together. Once we've talked through your idea, we trade photos by email until we find the one, or the combination, that will make a great painting. I ask a lot of questions, because the composition is something we build together. It needs to be a subject I truly want to paint, with strong reference photos. (I don't paint babies.)
No surprises. Before I pick up a brush, we agree on size, timeline, and a firm shipping quote based on the canvas size and where it's going. A 50% deposit starts the work, usually about four weeks to ready-to-ship, longer for large canvases. You'll approve photos of the finished painting before paying the balance. I ship from Portugal by UPS, with tracking the moment it leaves.
A number of my collectors have come back for a second painting, and it's usually because of how the first one felt to make together.
Every commission becomes a new member of the family, one that will light up your home in a way nothing off the shelf ever could.
If something has already come to mind, tell me about it through the contact form on this website.
We can also talk on WhatsApp: fill out the form first, and I'll share my number privately.
