EXPERIMENTAL
EXPERIMENTAL
The work that doesn't fit a category. That's some of the most fun work I make.
"Some paintings don't belong to a place. They belong to a mood, an experiment, a question I hadn't answered yet. They're not for everyone."
—Cody DeLong
“Collectors often tell me the piece they bought years ago still surprises them—different light, different mood, a different season in their life.
In this way there is an ongoing conversation with the collector and the art over time.”
“The role these paintings are meant to play is providing a visual reference point
in a mentally noisy world”
COLLECTOR REVIEWS
“THE OUTCOME FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS.”
"I asked Cody if he'd take a commission and he humbly accepted. He did four small pieces for me—a tetraptych—graciously accommodating my request on size, canvas material, and subject matter. We collaborated easily on style and color palette. It mattered not that he was in Portugal and I in Sedona: the shipping was fast, and the pieces arrived in perfect condition, exquisitely executed. They'll be with my family for a very long time."
— JOHN P., SEDONA
“HE HAS PROVEN TO BE EXACTLY THE RIGHT ARTIST.”
"I have long admired Cody's understanding of light and color, and his ability to capture buildings and vehicles. My husband and I felt he would be the perfect artist to portray an old barn on our property we're very attached to—and we were so right. He led us through sketches and collaborated with us at every step. He has proven to be exactly the right artist for a painting that will mean a lot to our family for a long time."
— ANNA D., HOTCHKISS, COLORADO
“THE SOUTHWEST THEME AND COLORS JUST COME ALIVE IN OUR HOME.”
"We'd admired Cody's work and loved his landscapes, but had a difficult location for the artwork we wanted. After discussing our size and lighting requirements, we commissioned him to develop and paint a desert landscape that's proven to be the ideal solution for us. His professional ability to adapt to our requirements, coupled with his raw talent and creative vision, gave us a wonderful oil painting we're proud to have relied on him for. The Southwest theme and colors just come alive in our home, and we'll always enjoy this piece of commissioned art."
— RON M., SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA
“A COLLABORATION WITH ONE OF THE FINEST LANDSCAPE ARTISTS WORKING TODAY.”
"Cody is a true professional. Once we agreed on the subject and how it should be presented, he really got to work—setting a reasonable schedule, providing sketches along the way. He listens, but he doesn't waver from the original vision. To commission a painting with Cody is really a collaboration with one of the finest landscape artists working today."
— BARBARA S., BOULDER CITY, NV
